Studio Photoshoot Information

Family is so precious! It is so easy to say, "We need to get a family picture done." The hard part is getting everyone together to make it happen!

Don't waste another day. Make the effort this year. There is never a better time to capture family memories. Your session can be at a favorite family location or at my home studio location, indoors, outdoors or both.

  • Simple hairstyles and natural makeup are best.
  • Avoid haircuts within 48 hours of your portrait sitting. Ideally, haircuts should happen 2 weeks prior.
  • Have any hair and makeup supplies available for quick touch-ups.

  • No matter what colour your background, it's important to create a unified look within your family. This allows the viewer to focus more on your faces rather than on what you're wearing.
  • You don't necessarily have to all wear the same exact colour to achieve this. Just as you would coordinate the colour of the d├ęcor within a room in your home, you can coordinate complementary colours of your family's clothing -- say, denim, tan and white. Or you can simply choose various shades of one colour -- shades of blue, for instance -- to keep the focus on your family's faces.
  • Solid colours or simple patterns look best. Busy patterns on clothing are distracting.
  • Medium to dark shades create a timeless look & are slenderizing.
  • Small jewellery/accessories compliment your face better. Avoid large, distracting accessories.
  • Make sure your shoes match your outfit. They might show in some poses.
  • Long sleeves are better for adults to focus attention on the face. Short sleeves are ok for infants and children.
  • If you wear glasses, feel free to wear them.

How Long do I spend with You

  • That depends... If there are small children involved, I will try and photograph them naturally as they play in their own little world.
  • This will sometimes take longer depending on the child. Plan on 1 - 2 hours for a session.

Posing for the Camera

  • If you would like to bring meaningful items to your portrait session, please feel free to do so: eg. Sports equipment, musical instruments, special toys or books, etc.
  • I would like to encourage you to have fun at your session and express your true personality!
  • If you have special requests for your portrait session, please share them with me. I am here to serve you.
  • Remember that portraits make excellent gifts. I also offer portrait greeting cards and Vouchers.

We will take breaks if needed and also . . . expect to have lots of fun!
